An extension for the JavaScript class String

String.prototype.format = function() {
    var i = 0, s = this, re;
    while(i < arguments.length) {
        re = new RegExp("\\{" + i + "\\}", 'gm');
        s = s.replace(re, arguments[i++]);
    }
    return s;
};

Usage

<script>
    'Hello {0} {1}'.format('JS', 'World');
</script>

Result

    Hello JS World
